Equine-Assisted Learning  & Nature Connection

Suaimhneas Summer Camp is a nature-based camp for children and teenagers held in July and August.
Activities are designed to target the areas of social, emotional and behavioural well-being, addressing self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.
Participants have said that they loved the freedom of being outdoors immersed in nature and the fun-filled company of our adored dogs, cat, hens and horses. They enjoyed games such as table tennis and frisbee, as well as foraging in the woodland, creating crafts, setting up shop and participating in a sound bath!
Activities include

  • yoga

  • craft making

  • mindfulness

  • gardening

  • games

  • animal care

Throughout the school year, we offer life coaching, mindfulness, equine-assisted learning and nature connection opportunities for students and staff. Activities are designed in consultation with school personnel and health professionals around the targets set out in an individual education plan, wellness plan or a well-being policy statement. Horses are very special animals and can help us find a sense of ease. Connecting with nature encourages emotional regulation.
